Today, Dr. Irina Nalis-Neuner and I presented our paper, “Like a Skilled DJ: An Expert Study on News Recommendations Beyond Accuracy,” at the 11th International Workshop on News Recommendation and Analytics in Conjunction with ACM RecSys 2023.
📚 In the past, recommender systems aimed for accuracy, but recent awareness highlights the need for considerations beyond accuracy. This study explores advancements in beyond-accuracy metrics like diversity, serendipity, and novelty, emphasizing collaboration between algorithms and domain experts. We focus on news content, emphasizing the multifaceted challenge and the importance of user-centric systems and human involvement in decision-making.
